Rachel Afshari

Co-Owner / General Manager

Rachel has been at the helm of Lemon Press, serving her Nantucket community since 2015. Her family's Iranian roots ensured she grew up eating Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare. It’s her upbringing that motivates Rachel to deliver Nantucket a “Persian hospitality” approach to her service, and to the menu you all know and love. 

During her undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Massachusetts, she developed a deep-seated passion for the importance of food systems. Rachel has spent the last 10 years of her life committed to learning and growing healthy, sustainable eating habits both personally and professionally. 

Fun fact about Rachel, she was the ripe age of 22 when she helped co-owner and cousin Darya Afshari, launch Lemon Press. This made winning the Best Small Business Award on Nantucket in 2019, all the more special to her. Over the years, Rachel has fully embraced entrepreneurship and cherishes being a family-owned, female-owned & operated business here on the island and views it as one of her greatest accomplishments.

 One of four sisters, Rachel spends as much of her free time as she can with her family, hosting dinners and even indulging in the occasional escape room when she's off-island. She frequents the beaches of Nantucket often with her pup, Odin, and partner Will and she enjoys binge-watching Bridgeton any chance she gets!
